How do I know if there are local fence regulations?

Navigating local codes is one of the most important steps in any fencing project. In the Town of Orange, most residential fences require a Certificate of Zoning Compliance before installation. While we assist our clients through this process, here are the general rules to keep in mind:

  • Height: Residential fences are typically limited to 6 feet in side and rear yards, and 4 feet in front yards to ensure road visibility.
  • Placement: Fences in Orange cannot be located within the town’s “Right-of-Way” (the area closest to the street).
